Moisture vs. Hydration … What’s What?

Moisturizing vs. Hydrating … What’s the Difference?

With so many new recent releases of highly specialized hair treatment products by Monat, my mailbox has been bursting with questions.

One of the most popular ones being Moisturizing vs. Hydrating … What’s the Difference?

Let me break it down for you!

Hydrating the hair is the process of using humectants, proteins, amino acids and essential vitamins that penetrate the hair fiber, infusing and improving the absorption of water and nutrients so that the hair holds and retains moisture. One of the examples of high performance hydrating hair products is Monat Advanced Hydrating Hair Care Collection which optimally hydrates hair with a blend of technologically advanced ingredients that help take hydration to a whole new level and consists of:

Advanced Hydrating Shampoo

Advanced Hydrating Conditioner

Heavenly Hydrating Masque and Double Action Hydrating Serum.

Moisturizing the hairis the process of using butters and oils to coat the outersurface of the hair fiber sealing and locking down the hair shaft so moisture can not get in or out of the fiber.

One of the examples of moisturizing hair products is Monat Super Moisture Masque. Is is a rich hair masque that provides nourishing moisture replenishment to restore dry, dull, brittle hair to its soft, silky condition.

Simply put… you hydrate the hair to penetrate, absorb & nourish the hair from within. Then you seal and lock down the hair shaft with a moisturizer to keep the moisture in the hair.
